A 12 days Uganda safari combines savannah national parks and primate national park which gives an amazing experience that you don’t wish to miss out. The safari will include birding, game viewing, gorilla trekking, boat cruise, cultural encounter, chimpanzees tracking and nature walks. Exploring Uganda, the pearl of Africa offers other unique activities like hiking the mountains of the moon, mount Elgon, and many more.
The 12 days Uganda adventure safari will start and end in Kampala the capital city of Uganda.
Trip Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Murchison falls.
You will have a breakfast and you will be picked up from the hotel then hit the road to Murchison falls national park which is the largest and oldest park in Uganda. The park is famously known for having the most powerful falls in the whole world. While on the way to the park, it will take about 5 hours drive from Kampala where you will spot various beautiful sceneries along the way. You will have an en-route visit to Ziwa Rhino sanctuary for Rhino tracking before proceeding to Murchison Falls National Park as you enjoy the en-route lunch. After head to the park at the top of falls where you will spot the most powerful falls and a magnificent rainbow if it will be sunny day as you8 take many photos of your choice. Later check in at Pakuba Lodge (Deluxe)/Red Chilli Hotel (Budget)/paraa Safari Lodge (Luxury) for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Game viewing and boat cruise.
After having an early morning cup of coffee at the lodge and you will be picked up by the guide and head for early morning game viewing in the park where early rises and glacier mammals will be spotted like elephants, bufalos, giraffes, warthogs, lions, leopards, bush bucks, kobs and various bird species. Game viewing takes will take about 2-3 hours later you will return to the lodge for relaxation as you warm up for lunch. Later in the afternoon, you will have a boat cruise at the bottom of Murchison falls where a remarkable sight and a roar sound of the Nile crashing through a narrow gorge thus making the falls powerful. While on the cruise, you will spot mammals along the lake shores like forest elephants, crocodiles, hippos, water bucks and various bird species like Goliath herons, Egyptian geese, and many more. Dinner and overnight at (day 1)
Day 3: Transfer to Kibale national park.
You will have a breakfast then head to kibale national park which is a home of 13 primates but famously known for inhabiting a large number of chimpanzees who said to be close relative of humans due to 98% DNA. Chimpanzees always move in large number as families with about 60 individuals and can be trekked morning and afternoon hours. You will have lunch at Primates Lodge(Deluxe)/Kyaninga lodge/Crater Safari Lodge (Luxury)/Chimpanzee Guest House (Budget) and in the afternoon the guide will take you bigodi wetland sanctuary center for briefing before heading in for nature walk through the forest. Which will take about 2-3 hours. You will led by guides through the forest and you will spot various colored butterflies, primates like red tailed monkeys, vervet monkeys, black and white monkeys, chimps and various bird species like great blue turacos, long horned billed bird, kingfishers, grey crowned crane, white egrets, owl and many more. Later you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight (day 2)
Day 4: Chimp habituation/ tracking Experience& nature walk.
After having breakfast, the guide will pick from the lodge to UWA headquarters where you have briefing about dos and don’ts of chimpanzees tracking. To have the best tracking, you are expected to park cameras, wear comfortable hiking boots, long trousers, long t-shirts, rain coat, water &snacks and many more. For chimp trackers are given only one hour with chimps and habituation trackers are given 4 hours to be with chimps. You will have morning tracking and later have lunch at the lodge. In the afternoon you will do nature walk around local communities of kibale park by visiting rest in bananas where you will enjoy banana juice that is made out of ripped banana, will be entertained by traditional dances of batoro who are natives and bakiga who are migrates and many more. In the evening they will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Kibale-Queen Elizabeth NP &boat cruise.
You will have a cup of coffee at the lodge then head to Queen Elizabeth national for game viewing mammals like elephants, buffaloes, lions, leopards, hyenas, and leopards which will take about2-3 hours and later you will check in at Enganzi Lodge (Deluxe)/Mweya Safari Lodge/Katara Lodge (Luxury) for lunch. Later in the afternoon, you will do boat cruise on kazinga channel where you will spot various water birds, reptiles and mammals along the lake shores. The cruise will take about 2-3 hours beautiful view of water bodies and savannah grasslands. In the evening, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Game drive and community walk/forest nature walk
You will have breakfast at the lodge then head for game drive in Ishasha sector where you will spot lion climbing trees. These lions do climb trees to spot the preys, to get sheds, run away from house flies and many more. During game viewing, more mammals will be spotted like elephants, buffalos’ warthogs, and many more. Then return to the lodge for lunch as you warm up nature walk in the afternoon that bwill be lead by the guide to the local communities like visiting the Salt mining area on Lake Katwe or the Kasenyi fishing village, bat caves and many more. You will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight (day 5).
Day 7: transfer to Bwindi NP
You will have breakfast then check out at the lodge to transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable national park. The park is famously known for mountain gorillas which are said to be close relative of humans. It will take about 3-5 hours drive depending which sector you would like to trek the next morning. You will check in at Bakiga lodge/ Gorilla Mist Camp/ Ruhija lodge for lunch as you warm up for nature walk in the forest in the afternoon. While in the afternoon, you will have chance to me batwa people as you enjoy the their culture. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 8: Gorilla trekking adventure and transfer to Mgahinga NP.
Have an early morning breakfast and at the lodge they will pack food and water for you as our guide picks you to UWA headquarters for briefing before gorilla trekking. After knowing dos and don’ts of the gorilla trekking, the rangers and guides will take you through the forest to search gorillas in their homes. You will be given only one hours to be them then later you will have your packed lunch as you head to mgahinga park where you will spend a night at Travelers Hotel/Gahinga Lodge and dinner.
Day 9: Golden monkey tracking and cultural walk
After breakfast, you will go for a golden monkey tracking adventure immediately after being briefed by the park rangers. On a 12 Days Uganda Adventure Safari, this will also reward you with other primates in Mgahinga NP like golden monkey, gorillas, red tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkey, vervet monkey, baboons and many more. In the evening, you may go for a cultural walk of the Batwa community. Then return to lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 10: Transfer to Lake Mburo and boat cruise.
You will have a breakfast and head to Lake mburo national park which will take about 5-6 hours. You will spot lake Bunyonyi , beautiful landscape of kabale, then lake Mburo NP where you will spot zebras, kobs, giraffes, warthogs, leopards, buffalos and many more. You will have en-route lunch and proceed to the park to check in at Mburo Safari Lodge/Mihingo Lodge/ Eagles Nest Lodge. In the evening hours, you will do boat cruise on Lake Mburo where you will spot various mammals on the lake shores and various bird species. Later return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 11: Transfer back to Kampala.
After breakfast, go for a guided nature walk and later set off to Kampala with the en-route game drive, and stopover to look at the Royal Drum makers, the Equator -where you will be able to stand and be on both hemispheres at once, arriving in the Kampala in the evening. Overnight at Le Petit Village/Cassia Lodge/Nexus Resort.
Day 12: City tour and Departure.
You will have a relaxed breakfast and you will be picked up from the hotel and go on a city tour in Kampala, visit Kasubi Tombs, Bahai temple, Nakasero fruits Market, National museum, Namugongo shrines, Ghadaffi mosque among others. In the evening, proceed to Entebbe airport at check for your departure flight.
