Trip Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Murchison Falls.
After having breakfast, you will be picked from your hotel in Kampala and set off to Murchison falls national park with en-route visit to Ziwa Rhino sanctuary for Rhino tracking. You will have lunch along the way as you proceed to Murchison falls national park where you will visit the top of the falls for a remarkable sight and sound of the Nile crushing through a narrow gorge. After the falls you will check in at Pakuba Lodge (Deluxe)/Red Chilli Hotel (Budget)/Paraa Safari Lodge (Luxury) for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Game drive and Boat cruise to the bottom of the Falls
You will have an early morning breakfast and set off for an early morning game drive where you will spot early risers and gracier mammals like lions, elephants, buffalos, giraffes, warthogs, leopards and various bird species. Game drive will take about 2-3 hours then return to the lodge for lunch as you warm up for a sun set cruise to the bottom side of the Murchison falls where you will spot forest elephants, school of hippopotamus, buffalos, water bucks, and various bird species along the cruise on Albert Nile. goliath herons, Egyptian geese, and many more. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Day 3: Transfer to Kibale National Park.
After a heavy breakfast, you will set off a long scenic drive to Kibale Forest National Park which is a home of 13 primates like chimpanzees, black and white monkeys, vervet monkey, red tailed monkey and many more. While on the way, you will spot farming of the locals like banana plantation, maize plantations, tea plantations and many more. You will check in for dinner and overnight stay at Primates Lodge (Deluxe)/Kyaninga lodge /Crater Safari Lodge (Luxury)/Chimpanzee Guest House (Budget).
Day 4: Chimp habituation Experience/ Chimpanzee tracking and nature walk.
After early morning breakfast, you will proceed to Kanyanchu at UWA headquarters for briefing before chimpanzee’s habituation or tracking experience. During the briefing, visitors are told dos and don’ts of tracking which involves what to pack during the activity. Some of these include cameras, long trousers, long t-shirts, comfortable hiking boots, rain coat, water &snacks and many more. The activity takes half or full day depending where chimpanzees are spotted. After you will return to the lodge for lunch as you warm up for nature walk in the afternoon at bigodi wetland sanctuary. Later in the evening, you will enjoy dinner and sleep overnight.
Day 5: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park and Boat Cruise.
You will have an early morning breakfast and then drive to Queen Elizabeth national park for early morning game drive. The game drive will take about 2-3 hours where early riser and graciers mammals will be spotted like elephants, lions, warthogs, buffalos, leopards, bush bucks and various bird species like grey crowned crane, king fishers, great blue turacos, wagtail, hamerkop and many more. After the activity, you will be taken to checking at Enganzi lodge (Deluxe)/Mweya Safari Lodge/Katara Lodge (Luxury) for relaxation and you warm up for lunch. Later in the afternoon, you will be led by the guide to have a sun cruise on kazinga channel where you will spot kazinga channel bridge which is divided by Lake George and lake Edward. While on the cruise, you will get a chance to come closers to some animals like school of hippopotamus, crocodiles, elephants, buffalos on the lake shores and various water bird species will be spotted like Egyptians birds, ring necked, great blue turacos, kingfishers, spurfowl and you will have dinner and overnight.
Day 6: lion climbing trees and community walk/forest nature walk.
You will wake up and have some coffee at the lodge then head for a game drive to Ishasha sector where you will spot lion climbing trees. Some of these reasons why lions climb trees is because lions are looking for shades, running away from insects, looking for preys and many more. The activity takes 2-3 hours where later they will return to the lodge for lunch as they warm up for afternoon nature walk. Later in the afternoon, you will be led by a tour guide who said to be part of the community and knows the best interests of the visitors to the local people. Nature walk involves footing where by visitors are taken to traditional doctors, entertained in traditional dances, listening to story telling tales from the elders, tasting local foods how they prepare them, and visiting local markets to support the community. Later in the evening, they will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 7: Transfer to Bwindi NP.
You will have a cup of coffee at the lodge and head to Bwindi Impenetrable national park passing via Kihihi Kanungu district. It is an amazing road trip although it seems to be a long journey but it is worthy it due to beautiful sceneries spotted along the way like Virunga ranges, Rwenzori ranges, fogged misty forest of Bwindi, birds and local communities. You will check in at Bakiga lodge/ Gorilla Mist Camp/ Ruhija lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 8: Gorilla trekking adventure and transfer to Mgahinga NP.
You will an early breakfast at the lodge and you will be picked up at 6am to UWA headquarters where you will do briefing before gorilla trekking. After the briefing you will be given hiking sticks and rangers will lead you to the tropical forest of Bwindi to search for gorillas in their habitats. Visitors are limited to 8 individuals per gorilla family and must be 15 years and above. while visitors are with gorillas, they are given one hour visit and the activity may take half or full day which is a great experience every visitor on a Uganda safari not to miss out. Late after trekking in Bwindi , you will have lunch then transfer to Mgahinga national park for dinner and overnight.
Day 9: Golden monkey tracking/Batwa Cultural trail and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi.
After an early breakfast, you will EITHER go for golden monkey tracking in Mgahinga National Park OR go for the Batwa cultural trail where you will learn more about the Batwa cultural tradition. On return, transfer to Lake Bunyonyi for dinner and overnight at Bunyonyi resort/Birdnest@Bunyonyi resort/ Bunyonyi overland camp.
Day 10: Transfer to Kampala.
After having a relaxed cup of coffee, you will check out from the lodge heading to Kampala passing through Lake Mburo where you will see game as Zebras, impalas. You will make several stopovers to do shopping and photography at the equator reaching Kampala in the evening. Check-in into your hotel overnight or transfer to Entebbe airport for departure if on schedule.
