An 8 days Uganda Primates Safari will start and end in Kampala the capital city of Uganda
The primate safari in Uganda takes you to the largest and oldest park in Uganda that is Murchison falls national park which is one of the best savanna game parks where you will enjoy exclusive game viewing. The park is located in northern part of Uganda and a home of wildlife, birds, best destination for boat cruise. Later you will travel to Kibale Forest National Park, a forest with the highest density of primates in Africa. You will track the fast chimpanzees in the Kibale tropical rain forest as well as a walk through the Bigodi Swamp.
While in Queen Elizabeth national park, you will do boat cruise on kazinga channel as wll as enjoying the game drive in popular trails.
The trip ends in Bwindi national park where you will crown the safari with an amazing trek through the gorilla sanctuary. You will track a habituated gorilla family within one of the four sectors of the park and you will be reward with a trekking certificate which will be memorable.
Trip Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Murchison Falls NP.
You will be picked from your hotel in Kampala at 7:00am and set off to Murchison falls National Park, reaching Zziwa Rhino sanctuary by 11:00am for Rhino Tracking. After one hour visit of Rhinos, you will proceed to Murchison falls national park where you will check in at the lodge for lunch. Afternoon hours, you will visit the top of the most powerful falls in the whole world. You will spot a magnificent beauty of the scenic mighty Nile forcing itself through a 7metre gorge, pouring down with a thunderous roar. You will spot an amazing rainbow at the falls if it is sunny as you take many photos of your choice then later you will be taken back to the Pakuba Lodge/Paraa Safari Lodge/Red Chilli Hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Game drive and Boat cruise.
You will wake up early morning to go for morning game drives to be able to catch up with early risers and graciers like lions, leopards, hyenas, bushbucks, among others before they return to their hiding places. After the game drive, you will return to the lodge for relaxation since the game drive takes about 2-3 hours as you warm up for lunch. Later you will enjoy a boat cruise to the bottom of the Murchison falls, which will reward you with a view of game as hippos, crocodiles, buffalos, elephants as well as a variety of bird species. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park.
You will embark on a scenic journey to Fort Portal after having breakfast which a beautiful city with magnificent view of mountains of the moon. The road trip is an amazing one because the journey is through the Albertine rift found in the Western arm of the Great East African rift valley. You will have lunch at the Chimpanzee Guesthouse/ Kibale Primates Lodge/Kyaninga Lodge/Crater Safari Lodge and you relax in the afternoon hours for spa at the lodge, swimming, enjoy free wifi as you warm up for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Chimpanzee tracking, and nature walk.
You will wake up in the morning and have breakfast, then head to UWA headquarters for a short briefing about chimpanzees tracking for visitors to knows dos and don’ts while they are with chimpanzees. Then after you will enter the tropical forest and search for chimpanzees in their habitants where you will hear the pant hooting calls sound of them. When they are spotted, you’re allowed to take as many photos as you want but without flash lights. You will be given only one hour visit and you will keep 7m distance from them. When time is done, rangers will instruct you to leave and head back at the lodge for relaxation and you enjoy lunch time. Later in the afternoon, you will have nature walk at bigodi wetland sanctuary which will take about 2-3 hours. You will also be briefed then after rangers will lead you through the forest where you spot other primates like red tailed monkeys, red colobus, black and white colobus, various colored butterflies and various bird species like great blue turacos, kingfishers, grey crowned crane, and many more. You will return to the lodge for freshening up as you warm up for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park and Boat cruise.
You will wake early morning, have breakfast at the lodge and check out for 2 hour drive from kibale national park to Queen Elizabeth national park where you will spot Fort portal city and tea plantation along the way. While in kasese district, you will do morning game drive in the park where you spot early risers and graciers like lions, leopards, elephants, buffalos, mongoose, warthogs, bush bucks and many more. After the game drive, they will check in at the Enganzi Lodge/Kyambura game Lodge/Mweya safari Lodge for relaxation and lunch. Later, you will warm up for boat cruise at kazinga channel where you will enjoy the various mammals at the lake shores, school of hippopotamus and various water birds and many more.
Day 6: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest & Birding
After having breakfast, you will check out from the lodge and head to Bwindi Impenetrable national park passing via Ishasha sector where you will spot lion climbing trees. Bwindi is located in south western part of Uganda which is 90km from Queen Elizabeth Park. You will have lunch at the Bakiga Lodge/Gorilla Mist Camp/Ruhija Lodge and you warm up for birding in the afternoon. Then in the evening you will enjoy delicious dinner and comfortable overnight.
Day 7: Gorilla tracking and cultural walk.
You will have an early morning breakfast and the guide will take you to UWA headquarters for briefing before gorilla trekking. Searching for gorillas in the tropical forest may take half day or full day trekking them in their wild nature. During the trekking, visitors are briefed to pack comfortable hiking boots, water &snacks, cameras, rain coat, long trouser, t-shirts and long stocking and many more. While they are with gorillas, they are given one hour visit and are limited to 8 individuals that are above 15 years of age. After you will return at the lodge for lunch and you warm up for culture walk in the afternoon. You will be led by the guide to the local communities of Batwa living near the park. Then in the evening, you will return to the lodge, freshen up, have dinner and overnight relaxation.
Day 8: Transfer to Kampala.
After your relaxed breakfast, set off for Kampala. On your way to Kampala, you will have a scenic view of mountains, plain fields, and plantations. You will make several stopovers to do shopping and photography, reaching Kampala in the evening. Transfer to your hotel overnight or airport for departure.
