Gorilla, chimps trek are unique creatures found in primate national parks in Uganda. During Uganda safari, visitors are advised to explore kibale national park, mgahinga national park and Bwindi impenetrable national park since they are the best destinations for primates.
A 7 days Gorilla, Chimps Trek will start and end in Kampala the capital city of Uganda.
Trip Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Kibale Forest & nature walk.
You will have a morning breakfast and you will be picked up from the hotel then head to kibale national park which is a home of 13 primates like chimpanzees, red tailed monkeys, black and white monkeys, vervet monkey, Grey Cheeked Mangabey, baboons and many more. It will take about 5 hours drive from Kampala to kibale where you will check in at Primates safari lodge/kyaninga safari lode/ chimpanzees forest lodge for lunch as you relax in the afternoon at the lodge. While at the lodge, you will may enjoy free wi-fi, swimming, and nature walk around the park with the help of a guide.
Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National park.
You will have a morning cup of coffee and the guide will pick you at the lodge to kanyanchu where you will first do briefing at UWA headquarters before chimpanzees tracking. While with chimps, visitors are limited to one hour and later they will have lunch then proceed to Queen Elizabeth national park. From kibale park, it will take about 2 hours to Queen Elizabeth park where you will check in at Elephant plains lodge/Mweya safari lodge/Enganzi safari lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Game Drive and Boat cruise.
You will have an early morning breakfast and you will be picked up from the lodge at 6am for early morning game drive where early risers and gracier mammals are spotted. Game drive takes about 2-3 hours and Queen Elizabeth national park is one of the best destinations for game viewing as a savannah park. Some of the mammals spotted include elephants, buffalos, mongoose, warthogs, bush bucks, kobs and many more. After you will return to the lodge for lunch as you warm up for boat cruise in the afternoon. While on the boat cruise, you will spot various water bird species, kazinga channel, Lake Edward, Lake George, reptiles like crocodiles, snakes and mammals along the lake shores like elephants, hippopotamus, buffalos, water bucks and many more.
Day 4: Transfer to Bwindi National Park.
You will have breakfast and head to Bwindi Impenetrable national park passing via Ishasha sector where you might spot lion climbing trees as you have en-route lunch to the park. The journey may seem to be longer but its worthy it due beautiful sceneries spotted along the way like Virunga rangers, Mt Rwenzori ranges and fogged misty forest of Bwindi and many more. You will check in at Bakiga lodge/Gorilla Mist camp/ Ruhija lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Gorilla Tracking.
After having an early breakfast, you will have briefing at UWA head quarters for briefing to know dos and don’ts of gorilla trekking. Do not forget the necessary gear to track the rare Mountain Gorilla, perhaps one of the most exciting wildlife experiences on earth. While in the forest, you will spot flora and fauna, various birds, as you search gorillas in their habitants. While with gorillas, you’re given one hour visit and later will return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, you will have nature walk with the help of a guide who are said to be part of the local community and they know what is best for the visitors. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.(Day 4)
Day 6: Transfer to lake Mburo and boat cruise.
Have a morning coffee cup and check out at the lodge and head to lake Mburo national park which will take about 4-5 hours. You will have lunch at Mburo Safari Lodge/Mihingo Lodge/Eagles Nest Lodge as you warm up for boat cruise in the afternoon. The park will reward you with a view of a variety of birds as well as animals.
Day 7: Transfer back to Kampala and departure if on schedule.
After breakfast, go for guided nature walk and later set off to Kampala with an en-route game drive, and stopover to look at the Royal Drum makers, the Equator -where you will be able to stand and be on both hemispheres at once, arriving in the Kampala in the evening and transfer to Entebbe for overnight at your Hotel.
